How to read your results
The download (downstream speed) measures what you receive: web pages, downloaded files, video. The upload (upstream speed) measures what you send: attachments, backups to the cloud, and above all your picture and voice in video calls. It is often the upload that falls short in businesses, while everyone looks only at the first figure.
The ping is how quickly your connection reacts and the jitter is how steady it is: these are what determine the quality of calls and telephony, far more than raw speed. A test over WiFi also measures your WiFi, not just your line: to compare, run it again over a cable. Results well below your subscription deserve a free audit: an undersized line, a saturated WiFi network or ageing cabling, the cause can be found.
